What's the worst matched setup you've ever seen/heard?

So obviously synergy, and how 'on par' components of a hifi/av system are with each other, really matters.


Do you have horror stories of terrible mismatches? Like s-video through a converter to a 4k TV? Or terrible cheap chinese DAC to excellent valve amp? An obvious horrific bottleneck in the system?
