A friend of mine's boyfriend has expressed an interest in getting a turntable, she's looked at a few places and has obviously come away somewhat horrified by the prices. Bearing in mind this *may* just be a passing phase for him, what would you guys suggest as a genuine, entry-level set-up - sort of trying to achieve the balance by not wasting money on something crap that will rule out any possibility of him getting any real enjoyment out of it, and not spending too much money in case he decides not to go any further down the vinyl road...
