So for last couple of weeks i've been reading and watching reviews of different makes of headphones because i want to upgrade. My current headphones are Sennheiser HD 205 ( cheapies i know ) and before that i had an older pair of Philips which served me well for a years.
I'll give breakdown of what type i prefer and what i use it for :
1. They must be closed back and full over ear size.
2. I use it mainly connected straight from my Onkyo reciever and sometimes from my PC but never from a portable device.
3. I listen to all kinds of music but not much Jazz or classical.
4. Budget between R 1500 and R 3000.
5. I don't want to buy a DAC / headphone amp now, so high impedance phones might not suit my needs.
I have narrowed it down to the following :
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro
Sennheiser HD 380 Pro
Sennheiser HD 518
AKG K550
Yamaha Pro 500
Yamaha Pro 400
Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro
Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 32 ohm
Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm
At the moment i'm leaning towards the Beyerdynamics but because this is SA and to demo phones in a store is impossible, i would appreciate any input that i can get.
Thanks
