In a beautiful place...
I bought a Rotel power amp recently and paired it with my Arcam A18 as a pre. Speakers are MA RX6 and CDP is Audiolab.

Arcam is 50W @ 8ohm and Rotel is 130W @ 8ohm. The MA's are 6 ohm, so I suppose the Arcam will give about 75W and the Rotel about 195W @ 6 ohm??

What I don't understand, I listened to the same song at the same volume (not very loud) on the Arcam but when I pause the song, connect the speaker cables to the Rotel and play, there is no difference in volume levels? Is it not supposed to be louder with the power amp?

I found the Arcam alone on the MA's sound better, especially the mids and higher frequencies which is smoother.

Maybe there would be more improvement with a Arcam power amp??
