Wireless technology for speakers/subs - any progress?

I know in the past it hasn't been a great idea to use wireless to put speakers/subs in places where cables can't reach - has any progress been made with regards to this?

I'd really like to move my one subwoofer to the back of the room - but I can't run a cable. I'd like to try one in each opposing corner of the room.
