Does anyone know of a good wood merchant close to the West Rand (Randfontein, Krugersdorp, etc.).  I'm looking to build an AV stand to house my audio stuff and a plasm (one day I will get it, I know, I know, I know).  Looking for someone who can do a bit of cutting to size and cutting slightly curved edges for the shelves so that they're not just plain rectangular shelves.  I'm also wanting to spray it to get a better finish.

I'm also considering putting the shelves on spikes, so if anyone knows where I can try for spikes.

Unfortunately, I have limited tools, so I need someone who can help with most of the cutting to size.  I can do the finishing at home..... All at a good price, preferably.

I'll post plans and pictures once I've decided on the wood to use, since the wood will affect the final dimensions.

So far the unit will be 1470mm (L) X 700 (H) X 510 (D).  It will have 3 shelves, and accommodate 6 hi-fi components.  The spaces between the shelves will be 250mm, so that they can take quite large components, or so that lighter components can be stacked, leaving plenty of room for ventilation.  The bottom shelves will all have holes (three - 150 X 200mm) to allow for ventilation.  I've also recessed the back by about 40mm so that wires/cables can be hidden.  A large center speaker can be placed on the middle shelf, or on the top shelf, depending on where the (future) plasma is placed.

I'm going to put a false bottom or false feet on the bottom, and mount the unit on wheels, so that it can be easily rolled into position (I'm not getting anyone younger).
