I have the chance to upgrade to either of these beauties at the same price (don't ask ;D).  I've always been a Yammie fan for their sound, which is more natural and warm.  I haven't had much experience with Onkyo, but have heard comments that their sound can be a bit brash.  I'm not sure how true this is? So I need help.  I'm running Monitor Audio RS6 speakers with QED cables.

The Onkyo has the newer technology and slightly more power.  it's also THX certified, which in today's terms of HD audio being standard on new blurays may actually mean nothing ;).

I'll mainly be using the AV receiver for movies and music from a HDD.  Thanks to Nokia 'comes-with-music' my downloaded music will soon be more than that which I have on CD.  I still have a Manley Stingray tube amp and a Musical Fidelity CDP for Cds, but I'm not sure that the Manly will play downloaded music in WAV as well as an AV receiver since I've been happy with the Yammy's internal DACs (up to a point).

So, Yamaha RXV2067 or Onkyo TX-NR809?  My main concern is the quality of the Onkyo with 2 channel music versus the Yamaha's signature sound.  With movies, most amps are indistinguishable IMHO.
