Great gents, thanks for all the responses Apologies for only getting back now, the problem is the DSTV decoder, as soon as that is switched off/disconnected from the AVR, the hum disappears, while the DVD and AVR is still powered on, there is no hum. What can I do to fix this? Or must i live...

ja, but you have to time it, if a dog barks consistently for 6 minutes, then you may have a case. In my opinion, most dogs only bark when they are threatened or something unfamiliar is happening.

agree with that, however, I may get a universal disc player in the future. I feel with digital media, I bounce between artists/tracks, listening to CD's , i tend to play the entire disc and then discover songs that i previously discarded, so, id probably still have a disc player of some sort...
