No DIY, but I am a hoarder.  Pre-amp, small Rotel stereo amp (not in closet but on loan), multiple mono-blocks, the spare B&W P5, the P3, MF USB to SPDIF converter.  Off the top of my head.  Probably more.

So many stories.  None that I remember but lots of people tell me about them.  How I didn't kill myself I have no idea.  Thankfully enough people talked to me about it and I stopped - didn't drink anything at all for years.  Whilst I have no aversion to alcohol and love trying new whisky...

I just very rarely drink at home.  Used to drink way too much in my 20's, realized I have a problem and mostly stopped. It just makes matters worse though if I include the fact I tend to do a trip to Scotland every year to visit distilleries?

Am fortunate enough to have a wall of whisky, gin and lots of wine (which I don't drink) and probably only drink a tot or two a week.  Will be ok for at least the next two lifetimes.

Also have one of these.  Has made a noticeable difference to my sinus problems.  Mine is set to just run automatically as it sees fit.  Filter lasts just under 6 months.

Precisely.  Actually need some at the moment, every time I move the Maggies further into the room they sound better.  Currently at the limits of my cheap cables (decent cables way too short and have been relegated to the AV system).

Agreed.  An old iPhone 3 is used for my HK docking station in my bedroom and still works perfectly, day in day out (well, nightly) for music/white noise.  Used it as a phone for at least 3 years, must have been in its current spot for another 5/6.

Agreed entirely.  My stereo system probably cost R18k or so (all VERY second hand) and sounds far better than the surround system (which cost a vast amount more) does in stereo.  So careful purchasing of second hand equipment can result in some exceptional sound quality per rand.  But as Morne...
