allmusic gives Pink Floyd's Final Cut 3 stars.  I reckon it's a masterpiece, one of their best.

It will always help, but I'd recommend doing a formal qualification so that you can understand the basics, i.e. object-orientation, design patterns, DBs, computer architecture, algorithms, memory etc.

XBMC is excellent.  I've got it on my Win 7 PC and on the Rasp Pi.  No problems.

I've still got  that on vinyl, gave it a spin the other day.

I also enjoyed the remake tremendously.  A lot more mature than the original series.

Check out the two degrees I mentioned.  I'm doing BSc Informatics, merely because I work full time, have young children and the maths modules of the Computing stream are just too heavy. 

They do have the BSc Computing and B Sc Informatics.
