Ooooo I also wanted to add that when you demo all of these speakers, check what amp they are using as the demo. Amps like the Yamaha's are pitchy

Hmmmm, it almost looks like only the Reference line is powered and not the Reference Premier? Or have I missed it?

I fully understand this and i'll most definitely look into an integrated power amp that has the "HT bypass/processor loop" as you mentioned because then like you say the sound signature stays the "Marantz's" and is then just used to supply more power. And as for the Technics, i'll test it...

I'll be looking at the Klipsch RP-280f's, their dB rating is real high, 98dB so is easily powered.
