if you can get your once off sent as a 'gift' and value declared less than R400, you can avoid customs costs. Even gifts these day incur customs costs when they exceed R400.  :facepalm:

I certainly disagree here... If I had to spend a larger proportion, it would be on speakers. If you have bad speakers, no amp can make them sound good either. Ideally you'll get a good brand of amp that can drive your speakers sufficiently well at the listening levels you enjoy.

I've purchased couple shirts from online from a UK store (first time). I spent roughly R1500 and my import costs came to R1200! This was via skynet. Customs VAT was R303, duties R629 and admin R200... They also sent me some high value clearance letter. Does this sound right?

there are no forced subs... just go into your profile and under 'manage subscriptions' it will tell you when your free trial ends. You also have the option of switching off the auto renewal.
