Yep I totally Agree that technology is advancing quite abit and they are improving class D alot for Vocals. Alpine PDX and Focal"s small Class D have been great I guess it also depends what level you willing to take your setup too? Im an SQ Nut lol!.....And Always go Class A\B on Components...

If im not mistaken JBl has a decent sounding headphone for R1500 Its no "fireworks" but its not bad.
