    Speaker & setup recomendations

If it was really bridging that would be in the literature.  For all the power advantages of bridging (of which I am a fan) your amplification works much harder then, and you also loose out on the damping factor as your output impedance is doubled. I think it's simply a matter of the power supply...

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

Love that room of yours!! Yip, agreed on the listening position. Only problem is that in my setup I do not have the luxury of moving around, and had to choose between smoothest bass response (but compromising soundstage) or better soundstage (but compromising bass response). My main speakers...

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

That makes sense! HFX have arranged to loan me an Electrovoice ?pro? sub for evaluation of the 2 sub route ? I will see if I can get that integrated to fill the 40Hz dip in my room, but if not (or even if it helps) I think I will eventually also end up following the same route as you are now going.

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

Thanks for the suggestion - I am seriously considering that, but my only concern is integration the more subs we add. I will be watching your thread with lots of interest.

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

After extensive listening (and measurement) I confirmed that stereo subs will not work in my room. It basically emphasise the dips (main one at 40Hz) in my room as I am sitting very symmetrical in the (8x5m) room. The second DB1 was therefore returned and I am very happy that I did the exercise...

Is a Behringer Reference Amplifier A500 a good amplifier for stereo?

No fans in the A500 - build for a studio :)

Is a Behringer Reference Amplifier A500 a good amplifier for stereo?

What was the price? That sort of has a big impact as well :)

This is a studio amp Neil, so I guess not.

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

If I do decide to go for it expect some camera equipment to go up for sale as this is the only way I can afford it. However,  spending a lot of time in my music room lately and hardly any time behind the lens, so all OK with me.

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

Testing a second DB1 in my setup this weekend. Will use it in a stereo sub role rather than distributed bass role (although it will assist with that as well). Can't wait! :) :)

Is a Behringer Reference Amplifier A500 a good amplifier for stereo?

Contrary to Framcois I have had excellent results with the A500. Very neutral power amp and I had no issues with it. Drove a B&W HTM1 with one and a pair of DM600'S with the other.  Price wise I would think around R2300?

    Best classic movies 1970 - 2000

Probably my most watched movie from that period is Forest Gump. Love the storyline and his honest outlook on life.

    Marantz HD DAC1

Thanks for this, @cj. I have seen on a couple of the groups/forums that a lot of people have more than one set of headphones, usage dependant on what they are listening to.

    Marantz HD DAC1

Thanks all; I listened to the HD800's on the ADL X1 and immediately fell in love. The X1 lacked the ultimate power to drive them properly (which the Marantz got in abundance), but the sound of the HD800's were highly impressive. The HD800's were the first set of headphones (I have listened to)...
