Not to be recommended for good stereo. AVPs just not good enough to be used as pre, with a few exceptions (Lexicon, ML 40, maybe Halcro, but I've never tested the Halcro myself). There might be others.

I can concur. Had the privilege to listen to Carl's RFs Sunday night, and was impressed. The sound exactly as Carl described, off course the Devialet also contributing to the success.

I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly ,the HDCD disks were 6 dB lower in gain. My Mark Levinson 30/31/32 system picked this up and automatically showed the message " HDCD +6 dB" on the display, so it boosted the pre-amp volume by 6 dB. This off course only happened if the ML...

Agree, they are pathetic. I have an even worse problem on my 10 Mbps 100 Gb service: First a sync problem, solved by downgrading line to 4 Mbps, and now in November 5 times a no service situation for one to two days at a time. The line just goes dead, is then reported and comes back the next...

Re crossing the tweeter line in front of listening position: This is the way I've set up my G1 s for the best results in approx. 50 sq m room. Far away from walls, toed in, tweeters crossing in front of listening position. You must play around to find the best position (highly room dependent)...
