Telkom ADSL F-up

Since last weekend my ADSL has been slow. I have a 4K line. Usually the connection syncs at 4K, and speeds vary between roughly 2.5K and 3.5K, depending on time of day. But since last weekend the line has been syncing anywhere between 2K and 3.3K, and download speeds are between 1k to 2K. I reported this, and just now a Telkom techie phones to say the variable syncing is due to a new profile management scheme they are using, which is supposed to be more efficient. The guy said he has been told to do nothing about it!
