    You are right they are PA ratings. I copied  from a Crown amp ad from Items for sale in the forum, then JBL PA speaker. The concept should be the same if I'm not mistaken. Thanks Ian for that clarification too.

    Greetings Buying speakers and amps, you will always see X watts at 8 Ohms and Y Watts at 4 Ohms etc. My question is are amps and speakers set to work on an certain set amount of Impedance (i.e 8 Ohms).     I have Ecosse 'high-end' component video cables from a friend. With HDMI cable connection on my AV system I am not using the ecosse. I was thinking to use the cables on my stereo setup and my question is: Can I get quality Sound from these?  :thinking:

    Thanks KenMaster. @ Robert_E. it is a requirement from the venue that the music does not exceed 85dB.in terms of how they measure that I dont know. I just wanted to make sure if it was enough for people to dance to music.

    Greetings all. I would like to know if 85dB is enough for a 12 x 20m hall for 120 people to hear music well enough for a party. A venue that I would like to hire for a Christmas party requires us to play music to a maximum of 85dB. Please help.

    You need to calibrate the volume of the surrounds in the speaker setup | Speaker level menu. Raise the volume to about the same as the fronts.
