    Rotel RA03

I now realize the heading of the thread was meant to be Rotel RB03, the power amp, not integrated amp, stupid me.

    Rotel RA03

Aha, is that you Gass?  I'm the bloke who sent you an email asking if it is still available.

    Rotel RA03

As hy nie sy "kennis" se Rotel vir my gaan gee nie, gaan ek nie langer met hom vriendelik wees nie!  :sulky: On a more serious note, is it decided that the Rotel is a fine amp, or must I wait for something with VU meters?

    Rotel RA03

Lol, BWS not having any friends makes him a truer source of information!

    Rotel RA03

Has anyone had any experience with a Rotel RA03?  I am considering buying one to drive my Castle Knight 2 speakers, the pre amp is a Parasound zpre2. Are there other power amps to consider for R2500?

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

That is a smart way of looking at my problem.  The pc is rigged out to run cool, rather than silent, but I can certainly look at tuning it a bit.

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

An older dvd player because of my price restrictions?

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

I will do some digging for a Marantz or a Rotel, etc.

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

Lol, guess I'm not going to see my hifi become best friends with a Sinotec product!  I don't know how much jitter is unbearable, hell, I don't know if my system is jittering right now... I will probably end up buying the next cd player passing through the forum, just to play safe.

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

Is the Sinotec that tiny one Game is selling for R300?  I'm just scared that the rest of my hifi might shun a component called Sinotec...  Will that make for a suitable transport, or am I missing something?

El cheapo cd player to use with v-dac

I already own a v-dac that I use with my pc.  I want to know if it will yield good results if I partner it with a super cheap cd or dvd player (I have decided my computer is too noisy).  My definition of cheap is the cheapest thing with coaxial out. What are the issues I should be aware of and...

NAD 5120, noise at 45 setting.

It is good to know that I am not alone!

NAD 5120, noise at 45 setting.

No, the previous owner wasn't that loving.  I unscrewed two bolts on the side of the motor and moved the plate they were holding 1mm away from the spool.  Only after all of the fuss I realized that the records I want to play are 33's! :walled:

NAD 5120, noise at 45 setting.

All sorted and dead silent, without bending anything.  Now I only have to adjust the tone arm and then hopefully she will make sweet music!

NAD 5120, noise at 45 setting.

It is a grating noise, like it is devouring little animals...  I took a closer look with the belt off, it seems the plate that adjusts between 33 and 45 is rubbing against the spool.  How do you recommend solving this?  My inner cave man is ready to bend something, but I guess there is some sort...

NAD 5120, noise at 45 setting.

My father gifted me a NAD 5120 which he found at auction cheaply.  My excitement was short lived, as it makes a terrible noise at 45, but not at the 33 setting.  It is in great cosmetic condition with a grey Audio Techinca cartridge. I read on the internet the bearings may be shot, but my...

I have dealt with Willem and I have no complaints.  It looks like he treats you well if you aren't a clown :whistler:

Amp and bar fridge on same electric socket

Thanks, I'll try that. Which members will be able so assist me in repairing the tweeter, preferably in the Centurion region.  I got a quote for a new tweeter for R500 and labour of R200, but at that price I'll rather buy other ones from the forum!

Amp and bar fridge on same electric socket

I know what you think, students are going to turn the music too loud and destroy everything, I wish it had blown that way! I guess I'll move back to pc speakers, for now... I don't want to see my fridge eating another speaker! I'll try and contact a Wharfedale supplier
