    Water damaged Tannoy Mercury M3's

I might take this on as a project. From what I read, the M2 bookshelfs uses the same drivers, probably a different XO. I might want to make a bookshelf sized box if I am going to be working some wood...

    Water damaged Tannoy Mercury M3's

Heya I got gifted a pair of Tannoy Mercury M3's, with very bad water damage to the cabinet. The seams have heavy separation. I suspect the damaged happened many years ago. It still sounds fine to listen to though. Long story short, if I was able to build cabinets exactly (in terms of dimensions...

    Raspberry pi Wolfson

I haven't but I read up on it last week or so, because I was looking at making a hi-fi out of my PI. But from what I read it sounds good. Beats the crappy PWM sound output on the PI

    What started you in audio/electronics?

Noob here, I was always interested in electronics, and eventually studied electronic engineering. I became a software dev though. I remember building my own speaker boxes by bastardizing my folks' old LP player and taking the speakers, and putting into a cardboard box. I also always hacked on...

Technics SA-EH760 speaker hiss when on AUX(DVD) or VCR(EXT)

Shucks, I might have sent you guys on a wild goose chase. Upon verifying the problem by reproducing it, I discovered that the same hiss is present when it's on CD too (I'm sitting about 3.5m from the system and it's at -40dB and I can hear a faint hiss). I'm not sure how I didn't notice it...

Technics SA-EH760 speaker hiss when on AUX(DVD) or VCR(EXT)

Thanks guys, I'll check it out. DeonC, unfortunately I can't test the method you suggest, it's one of those (weird?) systems where the amp, cd changer, dsp and tape deck all connect via ribbon cable... I do however have a stand alone LG DVD player I could plug in and see... I probably should...

Technics SA-EH760 speaker hiss when on AUX(DVD) or VCR(EXT)

Which cable are you referring to? The speaker cables or the RCA Aux cables? If you do think it's the speaker cables, how come the hiss is virtually non-existent when I change input to CD? Also, I've tried more than one set of Aux RCA's, one short and one long pair. No difference. In fact, even...

Technics SA-EH760 speaker hiss when on AUX(DVD) or VCR(EXT)

Hi So I've recently bought a Technics SA-EH760 off of Gumtree, and for the most part it works fine. CD's play beautifully. The problem is that if I connect, say, my iPad to the AUX(DVD) in, or into the VCR(EXT) RCA inputs at the back, I generally have to turn the volume at least 10dB higher to...
