Water damaged Tannoy Mercury M3's

Heya

I got gifted a pair of Tannoy Mercury M3's, with very bad water damage to the cabinet. The seams have heavy separation. I suspect the damaged happened many years ago. It still sounds fine to listen to though. Long story short, if I was able to build cabinets exactly (in terms of dimensions and thickness etc) like the original, would I maintain sonic integrity?
