I agree with open and clean out dust...especially in extremely dusty locales or if pets frequent the same space...'static' build up can be quite significant depending upon the nature of the dust...some almost looks like spider webs :(

Another interesting thing to remember is that sometime they try to make it your responsibility to have lightning and surge protection.  Truth is there is NO protection against lightning.  had our residential area hit by sheet lightning...the affect was that 2 of my units were actual spot welded...
