Have you moved to a good stereo set and low-key HT set

I am currently in the same boat, do I downscale the HT system in the room and just toy with a 2 channel amp and streamer or cd player or do I keep the HT system and add the additional stereo system. The fact is I did this once too many times and always end up selling the stereo system a few...

    Feedback: Onkyo 809 repair

yep happy to give credit where its due. He kept me in the loop and even motivated that the parts be changed at no cost with Onkyo Japan. It was a very pleasant surprise to have gotten the call to send the amp back to their shop to have it fixed. I am very impressed to say the least. I guess...

    Feedback: Onkyo 809 repair

Hi So as you all know about the issues we were experiencing with our Onkyo's and many of us still are. Audiotronic also came under fire for their lack of "sympathy" towards owners who suffered the dreaded HDMI issue as well. However with that said I am happy to report that Audiotronic really...

    Heard through "The Grapevine"...

yep noticed this as well but for a while there was no Sony site. Think this came about after they consolidated operations in S.A and got independent distributors involved. I highly doubt they will pull all commercial operations from S.A tho'

    Heard through "The Grapevine"...

Sony closed their local division some time ago and is currently using a chain of suppliers to distribute their products. You will notice that we no longer have a Sony S.A webpage for some time now as well. Their offices in Westville Durban closed doors in 2011 if I am not mistaken. Also the...

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

keep the amp dean, if it fails again giving the same issues then they will have to fix it again. there was a guy on an international forum that had the board replaced and it failed again within a week. So they upgraded the amp to a TX-NR818. You will have recourse.

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

got a message from a guy in Australia who complained about the issue of no audio as well. He rekons he has been thru the same BS with their supplier where the supplier refused to do the one time repair and opted to sell him another Onkyo at a discounted price as well in exchange for his old...

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

Apparently this one time repair program was adopted some time back when initial problems started with the units. However we were never kept abreast of this by the local agent via any of their communication channels. I just hope Dean is not given the run around as his unit is one of those...

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

Hi Dean The repair program is for South Africa as well. This has been confirmed with Audiotronic. If the HDMI board is defective they will do a one time repair. Also confirmed this with Onkyo Japan as well. However you will need to ship your amp to Audiotronic in Sandton.

    marantz reliability

coincidently I chatted to a mate of mine a few minutes ago and he had a SR700x series in for repairs. The DSP board components had signs of severe rust and the board had to be replaced at a cost of 10k. The owner chose to replace the board rather than buy another unit. Reason given was that...

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

1.5 years before they get mouldy and green and then you have to throw them out. And if you try to fix using official channels then it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, no pun intended  :BWAHAHAH:

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

got the verdict back on my 809, the DSP board is stuffed and needs replacing. Soundtronics did try to help fix the board but failed due to not having the proper schematics. So here I sit with a very complex and expensive paper weight  :'(

    So i was thinking...

I ended up spending the money on a new system which I sold off again. In desperate need of a holiday tho  :'(

    So i was thinking...

Hey Chris I tried but it really did not work out. Went back and did it all over again after a few weeks. Ended up spending more, currently doing the same thing again so hopefully this time around my will power is much stronger. Must resist.

    Onkyo Issues (Onkyo | TX-NR3008)

hey Dex Did you insure the unit like we suggested in your previous thread? Sending it to Audiotronics will yield you even greater frustration as they are going to charge you +- R7500 to repair and seeing that its a 3008 its probably going to be more. Sorry that you experienced issues this...
