How to know/calculate the current output of your amp?

It will be determined by output impedance, the actual output devices (how they are biased and gain) and the power supply voltage rails. Mostly peak short circuit current values are used for power supply (transformer) and output transistors added output current while staying in safe operating...

It is really sad news, he will surely be missed by the hifi community including many forum members. My sincerest condolences.

    Best bookshelves on 50K budget?

Pictured there is the M30.1 which is a model after the 7es up from the P3esr. A classic P3esr in black can be had for 32K (on special) while stock allow.

    Clever useful stuff learnt here.

I find the goldilocks also works better as the water causes discoloration on the heater element cover and cools down iron too much.

    Network audio streamer

pwatts very nicely done with matching red PCB. I was pondering exploiting the SPI interface but know more homework is needed from my side. Let use know how the AES/SPDIF outputs perform.

    Internal Amp Wiring Advice

I am also a Purifi 1ET400A user with sonic imagery discrete 994 input from Apollon Audio and to my surprise they provided both RCA and XLR (switchable) inputs, 1ET400A needs a differential signal and I just needed XLR. Coincidentally it doesn't like when I mute/un-mute my preamp (schiit Freya+)...

I'm just gonna leave this here

Nicely done. Inspiration for someone I know who has not cased his dual-mono Soekris DAM1021, the Revision 7 DAM1021 board is promising some interesting updates, both in firmware and functionality. Now only DC-power input and smaller package switches like 5V DAM1121 and UART change.

    Buying from Schiit

Be careful when buying a AC power product if shipping to SA is not possible as it could lead to receiving a 110/120V component. Seems shipping to SA has been quite limited in time that just does not make sense.

No more silver discs - how to replace a CD player?

Will you be digitizing your current CD's by any chance? Just to see if local "computer" playback is different in quality? Sure this may drive need for a USB input DAC.

Patiently waiting for proper ZFS support on the Helios64 although having a interface bandwidth limitation of the SATA interfaces.

    Rose - Streaming Device

Seems a lot of silicon has been affected recently by extra long lead times even CPU and GPU chips. The knock on effect will surely affect pricing and product availability.

    Do watts really matter?

This is very true and perhaps driven by engineers designing even for home cinema amplifiers to be capable of finding easy to drive speakers (with at least 4/6 ohms minimum impedance in the bulk of its frequency range)

    Do watts really matter?

As speaker cross-over networks are passive components in series with drive units they do waste energy and resistors are used in series and parallel to attenuate even driver response (level). If 1W reached crossover, 1W does not reach the drive units.

    Denafrips Pontus II

I recall seeing a guy doing mods on Youtube to the Pontus II and other Denafirps DACS, vibration reduction and silly re-tightening of washers for output jacks and looking where board vibrates even the cover.
