    Family dog, that was exactly my point: Is it worth the effort? Shipping + converter, all the hassles; USA equipment is cheaper and they have the latest technology, it is a difficult balance.

    Hi: If I buy a good AVR in USA (Denon, Onkyo,etc), will it be a problem to use it in ZA, given the different power (110 to 220v)? Will the use of a stepdown transformer reduce the quality of the equipment? How about overheating problems? Any advise will be welcome.
