i automatically assumed these would be crazy high prices, but it seems that they are not that bad.

my understanding is that it is not the temperature of the oil that affects the reading, it is the distribution of oil in the engine. cold in the morning before start means most oil in the sump. hot reading will have some oil distributed in the engine leading to a lower reading. took me a while...

cold check is default, unless manual specifies otherwise. check the manual before just assuming cold check.

be especially careful if anywhere near an airport - wind turbines can play havoc with air traffic radars. this is especially bad with wind farm type setups, but i doubt that authorities would want to take a chance with a backyard type setup.
