Nvidia Shield Pro is this the only option

Yes, that's currently how I'm using it, via one of the USB3 ports. I'm not sure of the actual specs of the adapter I am using. The bottleneck could be there. Like I said, it's only really a problem for very large file

Nvidia Shield Pro is this the only option

I know 3 people who own(ed) the Shield and all of them have had the ethernet port fail on them, including mine as well. Seems to be a common problem, based on what I've seen. Mine failed a few years after purchasing so I couldn't return it. I still use mine, resorting to using a USB to RJ45...

    BBQ Smoking

Sorry, only seeing this now. I?m not on the forum as much these days. Long story short, the recipe is as simple as it gets ? salt, pepper, a touch of paprika for colour and that?s it. Best piece of advice I can offer is that technique is very important than anything else and is very difficult...

    BBQ Smoking

I got around to getting a very good cut of brisket from Beliner in Paulshoff. They were very helpful and patient with me selecting a cut I was happy with. Cooked it hot and fast on the offset smoker this time and I've finally been able to get easily the best results I've ever had.

    BBQ Smoking

Although I was initially very frustrated with the offset smoker, I've grown to love it. I find it very enjoyable and weirdly satisfying tending to and managing the fire. It's very much an involved hands-on process you need to focus on for several hours. I only really use the offset for shorter...

    BBQ Smoking

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. Some of those places are not very far from me. I'll go stock up very soon. I've only been doing this for a couple of months so there are lots of cooks I need to get under my belt. I'm getting better and better results with each cook. I watch lots of YouTube...

    BBQ Smoking

True, specialist butcheries are few. Pity I am in JHB. I'm looking for good quality, reasonably priced brisket. Something a step up from what you get from the big supermarket stores, but not wagyu level meat either.

    BBQ Smoking

So, I have become quite fascinated with smoking meats of different varieties. So far I have 3 types of smokers (kettle, offset smoker and bullet type smoker) and I quite enjoy using each for different cooks. A frustration I have in particular is finding good quality, nicely marbled brisket...

    Doubling up on room EQ

I see. I am not at all familiar with the inner workings of Audessey. Assuming that Audessey can perform the same function as the SMS1/minidsp 2x4 (for the 2 LR channels and sub), is there a benefit to using both ?

    Doubling up on room EQ

Under scenario 1: assuming the Velodyne's response is set to your particular taste (which may happen to be non flat), wouldn't Audessey undo what the SMS system did if the Audessey target curve is flat? Would it not be better to run the Audessey first followed by any other system whose house...

    An Interesting Point of View

I've never undertood why music enjoyment/appreciation is often brought in whenever testable claims are made. "Component X sounds different to component Y" is a testable and verifiable claim. "I enjoy/appreciate music differently with component X when compared with component Y" is an aesthetic...

110v to 220v transformer.... I have an honest question.

Somewhat related question (I'm not sure if this has been discussed before on the forum): How feasible is it to just replace the internal transformer inside an AV receiver with a custom one that has the correct 220v primary and appropriate secondary windings? Everything else in the power supply...

Is there a problem with PMs?

The recent ?dibs? thread got me thinking on an issue I?ve wondered about. Is there a problem with delivery and/or receipt of PMs sometimes on this forum? I recall vaguely that this was an issue at some point in the past. I believe this is the reason for the common ?PM sent? response in the...

    New Room, No Bass

Some interesting and promising results. I had a few minutes to spare this afternoon and played around in the room. In addition to not being happy with the bass, the mid and highs weren't all that nice. The room is still bare so I thought I scatter about sixteen 1200x600 fiberglass panels I had...

    New Room, No Bass

Looks interesting but out of the question, I'm afraid. Unless something breaks or is stolen I have no plans to buy gear anytime soon.

    New Room, No Bass

I don't think so. In and around the listening position, there is literally no bass, by any standard I would say. Almost as if the speakers' bass drivers have been disconnected. It is that obvious. I was able to briefly move the speakers to a bedroom yesterday. Totally different results. The bass...

Yamaha receiver, plus (as mentioned in the original post) together with other types of power/pre amps, DACs. Sources are a mede8er and android box with content played through the home network from a NAS. Depending on equipment, connections whether either HDMI or  traditional line level...

    New Room, No Bass

Klyvq??? :???: Thanks RJ. I got very similar results on REW with more accurate room dimensions. If I get time and energy later today I'll play around with placing stacks of fiberglass panels along corners and see what happens. I'll also talk to Martin.

    New Room, No Bass

Tinkering with the roof insulation is out of the question. I did the thinkpink job myself and I don't ever want to go up there. Besides, and unless I'm totally missing your point, the tiles are also made of the same material, though a lot more denser and rigid. How would putting the thinkpink...
