    Question

D&D I think you over think into this and google what you suspect does not help, easy hacking that is BS you need to share your C drive with permissions for anyone else and no log in password also that is silly anyway. Log into your router and look at the up time it will tell you of your router...

    Question

Or your router just defaulted on its own and your custom password went to preset key,  or you pressed the reset button for some reason.

    Cobra tap insert.

I had a few of the same old taps with the same problem, I just stripped it down completely and clean the inside properly with say WD40 and put it all together and will work like new. You can also flip the rubber seal around

    Does this sound right (wrong)?

This is a simple problem he is combining both channels nothing more to it, the pre amp does not have multiple pre amps inside just a stereo set and a A and B selection all the same.

    Eskom at its best

Ok but that 75% of the grid how much is that in watts comparison to full Eskom load, out of experience that 75% of grid is less than 20% of a normal Eskom bill for our house that is R200.00 saving a month on 75% of grid still have to sort out that 25% that is geysers, oven, fridge all heavy...

    Eskom at its best

So for a R250k setup you can only keep your low watt units like lights only at night, computers during working hours , Tv?s on for two days that is crazy you will never get your investment back or am I missing something

SSDs or platter (standard) hard drives for music storage?

With respect that is nonsense you have it the wrong way around, an SSD is purely silicon device controlled by a flimsy controller and firmware in most cheap brands and they die like a cell phone one moment on the other moment off. HDD warn you when bad sectors is growing and it will slow down...

    Fixed my first ground loop

If you get a real ground loop when using laptop then you need to disconnect the ground connection on the wall plug, I suspect that is why most Apple laptops supplies does not use ground only a two point connection.
