    What to do when...

Hi Jason Sorry to hear Bud It's really painful - I speak from experience... If there's nothing you can do to expedite them, cut your losses and continue with someone else. It may be your cheapest option. But don't forget to make the current contractor very in/famous!

    The final blow

Whilst in [one of the last remaining/big) Musica's today I overheard the staff that, in short, they are lokking forward to working at Clicks. Needless to say this means the end of physical media. I couldn't bear to ask them what the Musica closing date is. I could see that basically the wholse...

    EksDom Load shedding Woes

We unplug all our stuff, always. Except for the fridge & freezer. We only plug something in when we use it then unplug it again. During the recent shedding stint i noticed the lights were blinking spiradically. Checked at DB with voltmeter. Ranged from 198volts to 274 volts in 8 minutes. Not...

    Quite sad

It's quite sad when someone sells you expensive kit, new, with a warranty and a promise of an invoice nogal; you open the goods and find that it is damaged. And when you try to return it you have to pay the seller a sizeable amount to take back the damaged goods, that came with a warranty -...

Using seas drivers for deeper and more definition bass on fs250's

I have a pair of Bentley FS250's that I love to bits. Nothing wrong with them but taste does differ. They are equipped with 2x SB17nrxc35-8 6.5" mid-woofer drivers per speaker. It makes for a smooth listen that goes with the higher mids and highs. But here's my little thing: i owned Jamo...

Fixing plastic/pvc cover on speaker enclosure

Hi Guys I need your advice please. The picture below shows damage to the speaker (not sure of the right terminology) "enclosure". Material is plastic/pvc. Piano black finish. About 4cm x 1.5cm where the mdf is exposed and a 5cm crack in the pvc at the back of the speaker, running from the...

    Bentley FR100 VS Kef LS50

My experience with the FR100 was great. They hold their own against the MA Silver bookshelf's. What particularly impressed me was their soundstage and separation. Clear highs. Bass that you won"t believe possible for their size. I'd recommend them any day.

AC power fluctuations in Pretoria right now

Hi Folks. As you know by now I always leave everything in the house unplugged when not in use except for the fridge. We started getting power fluctuations in the lights from 18h15. Lights are dipping. I checked with the volt meter and the lowest dip so far at around 18h40 was down to 190...

Listening days are over - for now

It's an amazing approach and kit/setup your adopting. Adapting to this unwanted circumstance in a good way. Standing back 3 steps though I do find it sad that one has to resort to extremes because of all the - you know what - in providing electricity. Might sound silly but if they'd inform...

Listening days are over - for now

So, ou power "interruptions" started yesterday evening. Oddly synchronised timing between yesterday and today. Makes one wonder "how exactly" that could be. (Just kidding - I'm fairly certain why). My kit is always unplugged from the AC outlet, except for the 4 or 5 hours per month when I...

    Disappointed by new Denon AVRs

FM still works very well for me. And it's free to air. Bytes not yet. On the iPhone without a 'phone jack; it must be really constipated... Just my humble 2 cents' worth.
