Speaker and XO design software - Current favourites

SoundNotSoEasy here as well. Supremely powerful, but I'd like to crack the software just to show the developer the finger. The man is truly dispicably rude. And the user interface follows the man's personality. He gets away with it as I don't think there's anything out there that comes close...

DIY UV Exposure unit for PCB Development and nail varnish curing

Nice man, I might just have to pop in over the weekend to use yours if ok. Mine is too small for the pcb I need to make.

Speakers - Revelation Two ? Monitor MkII for DIY

That looks incredible! Totally worth it I say and R1800 is a bargain considering the amount of work that was needed. In future, you should have the wood properly sealed before using this process, inside and out. I think you are getting the join lines because the wood got wet during this process...

    Budget Active Studio Monitor

With all the work involved building speakers, it's rather pointless going for cheap drivers.

    The Glorious Vivere

Thank you very much Mr. Carpenter. I was getting nervous that I've not heard a peep from you! Glad you enjoy it - just make sure you spend your pension wisely! No point having fancy gear but the smile on your face is hunger pains!

    Gloss Finish on MDF

Excellent, excellent thanks! I've got a compressor with all the spray attachments (that I've never used) but still use Rustoleum rather. That said, I suck at spray painting - your pics are an inspiration though!

DIY UV Exposure unit for PCB Development and nail varnish curing

There was a local guy that was an agent for Mega-Electronics. Tin plating crystals were around R500 and goes a looooong way. In fact, so long that the crystals go off before you can use it all up. You can also buy ready made solution from c-boards I think. Still pricey but less than RS.

    'Working hard' at OR Tambo

They not sleeping, their eyes are merely closed. Don't you find music more immersive when listening with your eyes closed?

    Local or imported capacitors?

I would say the biggest hurdle is the iron cored inductors, even the low value ones.

DIY UV Exposure unit for PCB Development and nail varnish curing

The LEDs are more than powerful enough. The pic I posted uses LEDs. The supplier I used in the past has newer, much more powerful LEDs - I'm thinking of grabbing these and making a bigger box...

    Wireless ADSL Router

D-Link DSL-2750. I recently went down this road and this one has proven to be the most reliable as far as uptime is concerned on my less than ideal ADSL line. Much better than I've had with any Netgear for that matter.

DIY UV Exposure unit for PCB Development and nail varnish curing

Excellent! And your box looks about a billion times better than mine. In fact, Im wanting to redo mine out of pure and utter jealousy ;D Not sure how much you've played thus far, so pardon me if you already know this: 1) I gave up on prining my own transparencies. I have them printed on an...

First speaker project for the new year

Getting things back on track a little... So, I kinda gave up on the first order electrical XO idea and started messing around with a second order electrical alignment. In the past, I would just tell Sound Easy the alignments I was after and it would run off and optimise components till it...
