ADSL Advice

I am moving and will at last be able to get ADSL Telkom informs me.
I will use Openweb as the ISP (a good friend).
What do I need to have installed by Telkom- and what options?
I wasn't planning to stream stuff or download HD material, but with DSTV prices spiralling this may be an option.
I watch sport, otherwise not that fussed if I miss the rest of their programming.

Suggestions please......
