Yes those work well - if you can half-decent weld and have access to metal tubes and plates you can have fun. To weld you need Eskom to be on your side :rolleyes:
Karel, why change the configuration. That's the way Gunther did it and it works marvellously well. In other models he used 12BH7 tubes and it never had an issue.
Bobby is a well-versed service technician! I refer a lot of people to him for CD player repairs.
He is testing the waters. My advice is - only do booked service and repair. The local market is tiny. It is not worthwhile to do deluxe rebuilds and try to sell locally.
Fanus, after seeing your pictures I remember that you have a cavern of a living room with a cavern below. So it is worth a shot. I know of some 15 inch drivers.... A whole bunch...
In my opinion, "yes". A sound system / hifi should be just that. It can never fully recreate a sound scene with 100% accuracy.
Once you accept that fact then you can have great fun! Then hifi becomes very enjoyable.
But the moment you start getting paranoid about realism and imaging and air...
