Hi Guys Any pointers on a fair quality logarithmic dual gang 100k Pot? Alps? I'm not really coming right with RS or mouser. Any comment or pearls of wisdom?

What would you order for YOUR ?last meal??

Let us not under estimate the beauty of a PROPER toasted sandwich. Butter on the outside, pan fried until crispy brown, cheese melting on the inside. So many varieties to choose from. Cheese, lettuce and Hellman?s, yes, lettuce, hot.

    Trompies (chicken this time) Trinchado

Sounds good to me. Ian Paarman makes a very nice peri-peri marinade which I have used with cream in a trinchado sauce with great success.

    Powerful amps and power conditioners

The US uses many different LV distribution systems. The number of different voltages is astonishing, single, dual and three phase, some earthed centrally, some in a corner of the DELTA, some in the centre of one side of the DELTA with a "high leg" and some floating. It is a real mess compared to...

Same trouble with my first box, a Boabab. Now using mibox and it is wobbling a bit.

    How to save electricity?

The heat pumps coefficient of performance (COP) is in the order of 3:1. So, previously, when you purchased 3kWh of energy to heat water, you would now purchase only one. Things to note: They make noise, kind of like an aircon, and they do NOT get as hot as a normal geyser. The trick is to...

    Marmalade

So. If you like Marmalade, my mate asked me:?When last did you have Van der Hum?? Good question.

    Marmalade

Rose?s lime marmalade was a big thing when I was a kid. Kind of fell off the radar in recent years. I have bought it, but not the same.

    High Voltage Power Lines

Interesting subject indeed. The ?concentration? or density of the power (depending on the type of radiator) will diminish by the square or cube law, so unless you are standing really close to a 50Hz transmission line, the effect, in my opinion, will not be great. However, as the frequency goes...

The downside of a new hobby

Like so many things in life, the curve becomes exponential. Price vs performance. Think wine, art, camera, car, hifi etc. initially it is almost horizontal. Lots to choose from on the x axis with very little change in the y axis (price). But when you get to the right side of the graph, the curve...

Using a variac when powering up long-unused vintage kit

Don't do it to a modern SMPS piece of equipment. The extended start-up may toast it. Many SMPS start-up circuits are designed to be in circuit for a very short period of time, as in milli-seconds.

To be or not to be ... sane or not ... that is the question

I am so sorry to hear your story. Not nice. Unfortunately, as is well documented this form of fat, while 100% natural, is saturated. If the benefit is real, as opposed to a placebo effect, in my opinion, go for it. Deal with the cholesterol separately and take your chances. Best of luck my mate...

    Noise in our systems

I do a lot of work in the harmonics space for a number of industrial customers. Almost everything we buy today (domestic environment) draws a badly distorted current wave. LEDs, not the LED itself, but the SMPS behind it, CFL, electronic ballasts in fluorescent lights, air-cons (most nowadays...
