    Mica insulators for TO-247

Howdy... Another option is to use silicone thermal interface material.  You can get it in precut shapes as well as rolls/sheets. The stuff at Mantech (https://www.mantech.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?Item=15M1593) has about twice the thermal conductivity of mica (1.3W/mK vs 0.7W/mK. Better, in other...

    GEN5 160 gig Ipod fix

Howdy... I've also been toying with the idea of upgrading my Gen 7 to higher storage capacity so I can play FLAC files (using RockBox) and came across this: https://www.iflash.xyz/  I haven't had the time to do it yet, but seems the way to go.  Should get longer battery life too!

    The Speaker Doctor

Greetings all! I have a problem with some speakers and need some professional help as I am reluctant to try repair speaker coils myself.  A search on the forum came up with a few suggestions and also a dead link for the Speaker Doctor.  Is he still doctoring speakers?  If so, does anyone have...

    MQA vs FLAC

Exactly, so what I was trying to say is if there is a considerable reduction in size/bitrate, there's a loss of information... Wasn't making my point clearly :be:

    MQA vs FLAC

This does depend on the compression used.  Take any software install disk for instance: highly compressed, but lossless compression.  Incorrect bits would render the install useless.  ZIP files are lossless. MP3's on the other hand are lossy, because of the algorithm used.  It tosses...

    Quad 303 restoration

Homemade is definitely the way to go.  It's not too difficult, plus you'll get the original phenolic-paper pcb material to boot.  Profiling might be tricky though, phenolic-paper breaks quite easily, so go carefully!

Looking for a high voltage PSU design

 shout if you need any assistance...  I might even have an unused aluminium PCB with the correct footprint lying around somewhere... Oh, and I meant the LM317 app notes if you need higher current.

Looking for a high voltage PSU design

Howdy... Check out the Microchip LR8 (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/microchip-technology/LR8N8-G/LR8N8-GCT-ND/4918747).  Up to 450VDC in, has a 12V drop out, ie. input must be 12V higher than output.  Adjustable down to 1.2V. It's about ZAR15 in singles (TO-252 package).  Digikey is...
