    Speaker build ideas

I made all the silver color parts (aluminium) and the black bits were purchased. Inside every block of wood you will find a beautiful part - just waiting to be released from captivity. In my case I asked my friend MountainMan to help me release the part.  This is the result: After...

There are 4 beams like the ones shown earlier with the veneer and aluminium etc.  There are also other beams which I am yet to make. The final dimension of the beams are 1440mm tall,  105mm wide and 82mm deep. Kind regards, Ian.

What do the rest of you guys think? 1.  Are the beams part of the speakers 2.  or will they be used to build the speakers 3.  or will they be used to build a stand of some sort for the speakers 4.  or are the beams completely unrelated Kind regards, Ian.

Oh ye of little faith!  :O0:    :ROFLMAO: So that then is the "easy" part done.  The next parts I need to make will be really, REALLY complex so I am taking my time thinking it through before doing the wrong thing... Kind regards, Ian.

Help needed to design MLTL pls

You can build the enclosure completely from chipboard and keep it that way as a final product - as long as you make it rigid and strong enough  Kind regards, Ian.

Help needed: DIY "party speaker" type thingy

For R200 I don't think you are going to manage much if anything to be honest.  If your budget is really only R 200 then go to the local swop-shop and see what they have for you. Think about it:  Even a bottle of wood glue costs R 50 these days.  The cheapest sheet of MDF you are likely to find...

Help needed to design MLTL pls

The net internal air volume is what matters mostly, so within reason you can just make the dimensions whatever they are such that you can achieve that volume. It will require quite a bit of wood, and you will need to add a number of shelf type braces with panels this large, so the best is to...

Next I needed to drill and tap a hole perpendicular to the rod pieces.  This is how I do it: Start with a center drill to start the hole: Next, that hole is drilled with a 6.8mm drill bit right through the rod stock: After which an M8 tap is fed through: And then touched with a...

As I said previously, I am rather slow when it comes to machining things.  Usually that isn't too much of an issue, but when you need to make 80 parts it can become a bit of a frustration... Anyhow, here are all the parts I made in aluminium.  The bolts (black color) were purchased...

Help needed to design MLTL pls

A 300 liter cabinet (net internal air volume) is still a fairly big mother.  I use a 680 something liter cabinet for my subwoofer and even at half the size it would be far too large for any WAF ideas to work out well.  Anyway, those concerns aside I think you will be pleased with the driver...

More: Next step is to drill an 8mm dia hole 11mm deep into the edges of the Teak: All drilled: Next we start with the aluminium machining.  Here I am center-drilling the 35mm diameter rod: Next we follow up with a 6.8mm drill: Followed by an M8 tap: Then we do some...

Time for pictures! First I spent time drilling some of the wooden pieces.  This has to be done very carefully because the holes are large diameter, and accurately because things need to line up once done. Start by clamping the wood into the vice of the milling machine (who said milling...

    Balanced/RCA?

Hi Phase, There is no advantage to converting balanced to SE in a cable if you already have SE connection options on both pieces of equipment - just keep it RCA to RCA  Kind regards, Ian.

I am so tired of making parts on the lathe - been at it for days (because I am pedantic and rather slow), and I am only half way through it at best.  Will post pics later. Kind regards, Ian.
