Music has one message, lyrics quite another?

I see a bunch of people agreeing violently with each other here. I like jam doughnuts with my afternoon tea is a hard statement to disagree about. Seems some like voices, some don't. Some care about words and meaning others dont. Wow this is deep!

    The FINAL cable thread

At risk of repeating other replies above, in the words of the virgin Mary ?come again??. What do you mean by saying we should respect opinions true or not? Self evidently nonsense.

B&W speakers aesthetics not good at all!

But I'll just post script this with a note that my truth is not THE truth. If you want a second mortgage to drive your crossover which is an engineering masterpiece and it brings tears of joy to your eyes then I say you have found your nirvana. Thankfully my nirvana comes with my R400k still in...

B&W speakers aesthetics not good at all!

Couldn't agree more. Can't believe noone has been courageous enough to raise this. I don't buy the bull dust that it sounds so magical and you must just suck it up and pay through the nose for an amp etc. I've heard top of the line 800 range diamond speakers on great amps at hfx and thought meh...

B&W speakers aesthetics not good at all!

And she's right If we live in a post truth world where true/false and human morality are artificial human constructs I can't see how your wife could be wrong.  ;)

Most interesting B&W lookalike i have seen

Even if you did buy them chances are youd never receive them. Macro online shopping has been condemned quite widely.

The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful

I think some people like commenting too much without looking in detail and understanding the content in the linked video. Just because the (average) popular music is different now than it was 40 yrs ago doesn't mean there aren't things which can be said objectively about patterns identified. Eg...

No more high fidelity for me

100%. Room treatment vital. Someone wise told me 10 yrs ago never listen to your hifi outside in the garden if you ever want to enjoy it indoors again!

No more high fidelity for me

I think you guys are missing the point of hi-fi. Its essential to have the best gear and don't listen to anyone the music is pretty pointless. It's just the stuff that feeds the hifi. The whole point of hifi is oneupmanship. You can't one up anyone with a bargain basement R10k gumtree setup from...

    DIY Wellpoint

When you advised to locate water by dowsing I nearly choked on my rice crispies. I'd think more hallucinogenic stuff like psilocybe mushrooms or LSD - not so much the weed may be at work here. Has anyone on  this forum gotten the machine elves to help them tweak their hi-fi systems? ;)

    Audio equipment feedback

Some really good comments and insights here. Michon's let's be straight and fair and stop walking on egg shells tempered by hi-phibs wise insights both resonated with me. I am too tired to be wise tonight. But apart from trolls and downright mischievous out of place comments which would always...

    Kill the projector TV's

Sitting here in the dark looking at my 4" screen it strikes me that any TV connected to an inverter and batteries is better than any other TV not connected to one.

    Stuff that works

I think whatever floats your boat but my minimum requirement is that it should not kill you if you trip and fall nor kill small visitors with prying fingers. Maybe a perspex cover would achieve this without killing the plankie vibe.

    Maths problem

This shouldn't be as much of a puzzle as it appears to be. There is nothing inherently "right" about the competing answers it's a matter of convention. If the convention can be told so as to be understood it will be believed (to steal a phrase from Terence McKenna)

    Distance learning Institution

A good test is the following: How easy is it to earn the degree? Barriers to entry and very very important. A degree could be considered a form of currency and the easier it is to get the less valuable it is. Taken to extremes it is easy to see that if anyone could get a degree within a week for...
