    Loadshedding solution for powered switch

I've bought another deep cycle battery and see if I can get it to last longer. The guy selling it reckons with monthly discharges it will last much longer.

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

I don't shoot anything colour critical any more and I only game casually. I see the old Apple displays have DVI in so that could work. First cold day in a while and this screen is almost perfect, I wonder if a heatsink or two could fix it.

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

So continuing down the rabbit hole, I see I can get an assortment of Dells (with 3 year exchange service), LGs and the odd other brand under R3500. Some have IPS which is nice. Back to the current one, it can't be that hard to overlay a colour to balance it out via software. Is there any...

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

So the next question is what do I replace it with? Another 27" would be nice. I can get a new Dell for about R3k but I don't think I want to if it will die quickly.

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

I thought that may be the case. It seems to be a common problem. I may keep it as a second monitor, it's useable if I bring the edges in a bit.

    Loadshedding solution for powered switch

That is an option, it is an outboard battery (12v 105ah). It does pass through power when there is mains but has to be turned on all the time in order to kick in automatically for loadshedding. The inverter is a Mecer Lobo 1200. I have one of those Flexopower 555 lithium units as well but that...

    Loadshedding solution for powered switch

My router has a little 12v backup that works very well. That feeds a 240v POE switch that goes to several APs. Any clever ideas to keep the switch going? I had an invertor running it but that seems like overkill and the invertor battery is dying...

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

It's all the way around the edge. It hasn't fallen and no heat sources nearby.

    Dell Monitor Going Bad...

I've got a Dell U2718Q Monitor that I bought used. It was made in 2017 so well out of warranty. The edges have started showing some interesting colours, it seems to be worse on a hot day. Any ideas if this may be fixable?

Does anyone else keep suburban chickens?

Ours will come into the house and sit on your lap. Friendly bunch and they have their own personalities.

    Connoisseur BD1 service

I almost bought one the other day. Most people use short rubber bands or O rings to hang the motor. Takes some experimenting to get it to hand straight. Or you can pillar mount it. The platter brake starts the platter spinning the right way, without it it can start either way...

Does anyone else keep suburban chickens?

They do like to pull up grass, they also like to dig holes and sand bath. A moveable partition is good idea to save the lawn, otherwise they trash the whole lot. We let them into the big garden more now so they have lots of lawn.

Does anyone else keep suburban chickens?

We started with 4 chickens. Now we have 10. And 2 Ducks. We lost one chicken to an eagle and 2 ducklings to one of the dogs (the cat isn't interested in them and the dogs are normally fine). Of the 7 chickens that are big enough to lay we usually get 6 eggs a day. The Ducks lay when they want...

    Where are we?

NZ had hardly any cases until Feb this year. Her smoking thing seems like a good idea but people don't like to be told what they can't have.

    AKAI 1710L stereophonic valve amplifier

I didn't see this thread before. I had a pair of M8 amps on my desk setup for ages, they were both 110v so I ran them in series. Great sounding little units, i'd like to find some more. I also have some other salvage mono RtR amp that will one day be a guitar amp... Sounds like the power goes...

    Buying and selling cars privately

Have you seen a value increase with Solar install on sale of your property?

I'm on the commercial property side. It's a huge plus for them, especially offices as they mostly need power during the day. I have a guy with a building covered in solar panels, he doesn't have any batteries and he doesn't need any. During the day his tenants have power, at night he is on...
