Don't expect the 8XX to be any sort of bass canon, but any lift in the bass department that saves having to EQ it further is a positive, and since it has the same resonator as the 800S, you won't have to SDR it either. Seems like a good deal if you're in the market for an HD800.

They've tweaked the final production version of the 8XX to further increase bass response, and will be shipping earlier than anticipated.
