I am curious, Why do some manufacturers rate the Watt output of their amps lower then lab tests? is it not an exact science? Do the units in a certain range vary according to the manufacturing quality? help a noob understand.  :thinking:

I am overwhelmed with the friendly / great advice on this forum. Thank you all so much. Just to clarify, I want to go the stereo route and not the 5.1 route. My room is not exactly surround sound friendly and I would much rather focus on music as well as spend my budget on a good stereo sound...

Thanks for the Welcome LAV :) Something just dawned on me, My TV (Samsung 42" 5 series) has 4 HDMI inputs and has 1 Optical Digital Audio Output and 1 Audio Output (Mini Jack) Would this be enough to act as my receiver? could i just send that audio out to an amp and then just have stereo...
