    Surround Processors

I came up with a workaround to my malfunctioning 1067 problem. I connected the right surround speaker outlet to the rear back speaker outlet of the 1067 since DD creates its own surround in any case. This works fine for music played in PLII mode. I then connected the right surround input to the...

    Value of 'older' technology

I may well be better off buying the 1067 for R6k and trying to sell the 1080 and 1072 separately. If the 1080 and 1072 even fetched R6k to R7k in total, I would have saved R2k+ and got myself a fully working 1067. I unfortunately need to forfeit something - times are tight! :(

The fault is intermittent but to the extent that it works for a couple of hours then does not work for a couple of months! When it is down, the white noise calibration does not work either.

Hi All I am Trevor from Knysna, 55 year old. Music interests include everything from classical to power metal. I currently have a Rotel RSX-1067, RB 1080 stereo power amp, RCD 1072 CD player and an Onkyo SACD / DVD Audio player. Speakers are B&W 805 fronts, with B&W 600 surrounds, centre and...

    Surge Protectors/UPS

You can also try APC Line-R automatic voltage regulators. They are available in 2 models - one rated at 600W and the other at 1200W. Before I installed them I had 2 power supplies blow on my Rotels, since then (about 4 years ago), no more problems. They protect against spikes and cut out before...

    Value of 'older' technology

I bought my Rotel RSX 1067 in 2005, as well as a Rotel RB 1080 power amp (2 x 200watts) and a Rotel RCD 1072 CD Player at the same time. I think the total value was in the region of some R45000.00. Imagine my surprise to find out this week that these items are not worth much today at all...

    Surround Processors

You're right. I was told by someone at MAD (Rotel agents in SA) that if a chip was faulty, then that was that, and a lot happens inside a chip! Before the advent of chips, all switching was handled by transistors which were relatively easy to replace. Now they would replace the whole board for a...

    Surround Processors

I have a Rotel RSX-1067 receiver whose surround processing abilities appear to have died, at least when it comes to the right surround channel, as in when it is decoding a 5.1 signal. If I feed a DVD-Audio signal through the analog inputs all channels work perfectly so it seems that the...
