Hi all, Hoping to get some advice on the volume issues I'm having with my old Marantz SR5006. When I got this receiver (together with a Jamo 5.0 speaker set) 8 years ago, I had an issue with a very low volume level...had to turn it up to around 75-80 to get decent volume for movies and music...

Check if your zone 2 is on...this made a big difference to the heat build up on my marantz. It also stayed quite hot in standby mode when zone 2 was on.

Thanks everyone...the fronts were out of phase! I swapped the cabling around and there is a huge difference in the bass and overall sound quality now!  :wallbreak: Haven't had a chance to test the centre speaker yet cos that also does not sound clear and defined... Wrt the Audessy setup for...

I did try the tuner and it's the same. I'm seriously hoping it's out of phase now and not defective speakers. Will check as soon as I get home.

I'm hoping the cables are not the issue....bought them from a sound shop in Cedar Square...It's 42 thread.

Thanks for the responses guys. What is meant by checking if they "in phase"....does that relate to the + - being correct on both the amp and speaker? I will double check that, but because I bought cable that didn't have an indicator....I had to manually mark both ends of the cable to ensure...
