Music listening competition - Audio Quality

Personally, with a proper set of speakers, I can hear the difference between MP3 and Lossless. I do agree that spotting the differences is somewhat dependent on music selection. Playing a track with mostly drums and boom bass will yield less effect than a critical vocal performance. My favourite...

How often do you listen to your hi-fi system

Agreed, the pc desktop app requires a bit of work. The browser version is probably the most stable but it doesnt support lossless together with the windows store app. Personally, I am able to hear the difference in quality on my side. RCA Output voltage

What head unit is it? I cant recall when last (if ever) I saw a 6v RCA Out. Even something like a PRS-80 only has 5V. I would go for something from MiniDSP.

    Need advice please

eBay is an option for buying old CD's - even with shipping costs its quite cheap. Most CD's at musica are now 169.99 anyway. Alternatively, You could stream via Tidal/Deezer using their "Hi-Fi" modes and record the audio on a computer using Audacity or the like.

    Processor + sub out

Hi all I'm currently building a hi-fi system, just recently made a start by purchasing a classic A-400. Using my PC as source via optical to a Fiio DAC, im quite pleased with the sounds I hear at the moment. Next will be a better pair of bookshelves and etc. I'm following the advice I've read...
