    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

Firstly, one must take into account that last time I played the music tracks there was no problem. Anyway, I have now bypassed the blu ray. I plugged the hard drive into my PC connected to the receiver and I can now play music through my surround system speakers. I suspect an error with the...

    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

The music folder has many MP3 files but clicking on the folder I get that message. It actually states "no playable file."

    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

I have the Sony and yes, I have to select music from the menu first.

    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

If this could be a solution then how come the folder opens and the music files available when the drive is connected to my PC?

    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

I know that USB connections always become a problem. I have just plugged the hard drive into the blu ray's rear port and the movie files now play fine but still when I click on the music folder it says "no playable file" without even opening the folder. The firmware was updated over a year ago...

    Suddenly "Unable to read file"

I have a portable hard drive with music and movies. It plugs into my blu ray player via USB and the blu ray connects to my AV receiver via HDMI. We occasionally watch a movie on a big screen through my projector. Suddenly, out of the blue, I can select any music or movie file but get the above...

    Two way HDMI switch query.

Thanks jvr, what you say makes sense. I have been trying switching the devices on in different order. Yesterday I switched the projector on first, then the BD and the AVR last. The BD was immediately displayed on the screen but nothing more. The contents of the hard drive connected to the BD...

    Two way HDMI switch query.

OK I find this strange. I switched on the BD player and the projector, pulled down the screen and there was the BD's menu shown on the screen. At this point I had NOT switched on the AVR, yet BD and projector are both connected to the AVR.

    Two way HDMI switch query.

I guess its a case of experimenting with the order in which the AVR, BD player and TV or projector are switched on. I also need to establish if load shedding comes into the equation as currently there is no problem.

    Two way HDMI switch query.

I have the Epson TW 9200 projector. If I switch the projector and AV receiver on then pull down the screen the signal is immediately there, and if not, the "no signal" message appears and stays there indefinitely. I can also check for the signal by switching to the TV. If the TV receives the...

    Two way HDMI switch query.

I can confirm that my Intelli power backup is not the signal loss culprit. Decided to watch a movie on projector and "no signal" back, this after having connected the unit directly to the mains. As I had previously connected a two pole switch to the power cord I was able to quickly switch off...

    Two way HDMI switch query.

Finally we have had load shedding again and I can confirm that by bypassing the intellipower backup power supply there is no more signal loss to the receiver during load shedding.

    Two way HDMI switch query.

Thanks naughty, I have the Intellipower unit and it kicks in instantaneously, the TV and PC monitor continue without so much as a flicker. However, I will try by-passing the back up supply and see if this helps.

    Two way HDMI switch query.

At last I can finally confirm that the signal loss occurs only during load shedding even though the receiver is connected to my backup power supply and the receiver's red standby light remains on throughout this period. So much for my technician's diagnosis of a faulty HDMI board, Rectron's...

    Two way HDMI switch query.

I switch it off once and a flashing "standby" is displayed. Pressed again then nothing is displayed BUT the red standby light remains on. Pressed again, then the unit switches on again. All this can be done on the remote's button and the unit's on/off switch.

    Two way HDMI switch query.

Hi Guys. I'm back again. Today I received a few guests to view a movie on the big screen. To my embarrassment  the "no signal" message had returned. Yesterday it was fine. I then did what I had done previously, removed power cord from the mains, re-connected and thankfully the signal was back...

    replacing sub woofer surround.

The diaphragm is quite stiff and sturdy, not easy, I imagine, to move it off centre when fitting the surround. Anyway, I will take it to the same people who once replaced the disintegrated surround on one of my front woofers.

    replacing sub woofer surround.

A pic won't show anything. An audio clip could be more helpful. I guess I'll take it to the home theater shop. They have someone who does these repairs. (for R 800) I blame the dents because the rumbling stops when I touch them gently with my fingers.

I certainly agree with you there. I only use this optical cable when playing DSTV music on TV and just timed five seconds from switching the input button till the sound came through. Presumably this is in order.

    replacing sub woofer surround.

I bought a foam surround from USA for my 10" Boston sub woofer. While gluing it down I got my wife to help by holding one side up, away from the glued area. She squeezed it with her fingers resulting in dents in the foam. End result was a rumbling sound at low volume from the dented area. I've...
