    Solar inverter & audio

Hi all, sorry for resurrecting an older thread. Considering a solar system to run off batteries in the evening, and hence reduce the electricity bill (solar in day, batteries in evening, use Eskom as little as possible) Any issues with sound systems draining the batteries, especially with Subs...

Centre speaker placement - open vs cabinet

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of re-designing the TV cabinet for a neater appearance and hiding cables. Looking specifically here for some advice on center speaker placement. Has anyone tried their centers in a cabinet below the TV, and is it that much different to having it sitting open on a...

Agreed, avoid Evetech as much as possible. Unless its something unlikely to break (fans, case, air cooler etc) and its a good deal

    Gaming PC advice please

AMD definitely best bang for buck nowadays My recommendations: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3.6ghz to 4.3ghz 6 core 12 thread) 16GB DDR4 3200 (Corsair, G Skill, Kingston) Board - X470 boards or B450 boards still good value as opposed to X570 / B550. I prefer Asus, but do reviews first and google if the...

    Help selecting Media Box...

I've got the 2017 Shield, and more than happy with it. That being said I bought it when the rand was R13, now it would be a bit overkill price wise. Parents have the Mibox. It definitely handles TrueHD and DTS-MA fine, havent tried Atmos, however I dont think there will be an issue as it...

Help - desktop not powering up - good local repairer?

Seems to be most likely a blown powersupply or a motherboard fault. It would also be quite handy to get yourself an external hard drive enclosure. Its a quick way to take out your drives and test them on another system, ensuring that at least your data is safe.

How prepared are you for a disaster?

If theres truly a disaster event and its every man for himself then assets, wealth, food, shelter, stored water will all mean squat if it can't be defended....and that can't be done alone either, it would have to be some sort of communal effort.

Help with media player for non smart tv

Can recommend the Mibox S, the GF has it, and no issues, even with the wifi runs perfectly. Parents have the normal Mibox and no real issues, however get the S at that price. With regards to Mede8ers, they have trouble with certain newer encoded X264 files, and cant play X265 at all.
