    calibration tape

Thanx Johan,  I appreciate your response. My problem is that I do not know which (if any) of my decks run at the correct speed...  so recoding my own tape is not ideal.  It is easy enough to get the tones generated and pushed into a deck, but, if my deck is running at the wrong speed I will...

    calibration tape

good afternoon all, so I need to ask for some assistance here...  I have a number of cassette decks, however, I have noticed that recordings on 1 deck sounds 'different' on another, the voice pitch changed, and the rhythm tempo changed...  this is simply because my decks do not run at the...

Sensai 'hifi' - Not sure if this is quite vintage...

Hi all, I can not fined much info on the little sound system I have here. All I can see is that is has Sensai 'branding'.  It is a combo unit, with integrated amp, tuner, cassette deck and record player. It is fairly old, I would guess late 70's or early 80's perhaps.  It does not look very...

    Technics RS-B905 won't eject

not a mechanical expert, but here goes from the bits I have learned... Some decks have a mechanical 'stop' preventing the eject button from working when the deck is in play/fwd/rew mode.  This is usually in the form a a physical (plastic or metal) bar or lever preventing it from moving. As I...

    16 2/3rmp records

Hi Guys and girls, I have recently come into posession of a small collection of vinyl, and amongs them, I found a single RCA Victor recording at 16 2/3rmp.  It is a late 1960s 'dance' album, "Dance Party A Go-Go" From what I gathered, the 16 2/3rpm 12" was not very popular, mainly being used...

    Older Logitech Remotes - Software

I have noticed on the Harmony website they actually provide you with the option to either go with the old harmony software (giving a like) or with the MyHarmony software. I have a newish remote that can use both.  I do prefer the newer software.  however, I do miss the customize ability I had...

Bookshelf Speaker Stands Spikes Top and Bottom or not...

Prestic is a good idea, but remember that prestick is slightly oily, and it will definitely eventually affect the veneer... What I have used, that works just as well, is the small rubber feet from the hardware store.  It is a pack with about 24 or so round gummy rubber buttons.  They have a...

suggestions for a chap Composite video or S-Video to HDMI converter

I have a bit of an issue in that my current amp (Denon AVR-X2300W) does not upsample Composite and has no S-Video inputs.  My TV is ONLY conected to the AMP by HDMI cable, and I would very much like to NOT run a composite cable to the TV as well... I have had a look at some of the stuff...

    USB transcriber 'component'

Further to this... I have been thinking of something else now...  In the old days, we cot the cassette that had wires and a playback head, so you could use your portable CD player to play through the cassette deck at home or in your car...    has anyone seen a 'recordable cassette' that takes a...

    USB transcriber 'component'

Hi guys! I have searched, and, although I have found some items, nothing is really exactly what I have in mind....  thus, I decided on this post... So, I have seen some Chinese electronic devices that looks like a walkman of old, that will allow you to record your cassettes onto USB or SD...

    NAD 6050C repairs

I have a 6050C with exactly the same issue... head carrier not lifting high enough...  That black plastic bit breaking is a fairly common issue with these, it seems. it was fairly easy to find the symptom, and solution in the interweb... However, I now have a different problem...  it seems that...

Car Headunit connected to PC and more permanent recommendations

in general, I would sa even a so-so integrated stereo sound better than most similar av/surround amps in stereo setup...  but your opinion might differ... Another thing to consider... if you're gaming, you might want to consider getting at least 5.1 surround for the PC, so an older AV surround...
