I am new here. I hope this is the appropriate place.
Is it possible to use the tape loop or at least the tape out on a vintage amplifier to trigger the VU meters on a tapedeck that has them.
For me, vintage amplifiers (or any amplifiers) with the big blue VU meters are unattainable. I have a tape deck that has them though. I usually just run a DAC output into the AUX of an amplifier, but the tape out has a signal out at line level.
Surely I can connect this to the tape in to get the meters to go no? But it seems like there's something else to it. must there be a tape in there to "record" the tape in signal?
