    These speakers were bought privately some time back, and I very much doubt if the previous owner knew about this weird DIY fix on the woofer. These speakers are 22 years old and who knows how long its been like this.... I will have someone knowledgable take a look at it.

    Correct, 1st with comp to get into device menu, then select HDMI in menu. Unit puts comp into "disabled" mode for 15 secs to enable you to select OK on the HDMI output, which of course never happens, then after the 15 secs it defaults to comp again.     The unit is an all-in-one Amp/Bluray/radio/network/usb player, so directly into TV/projector. I have tested it few mins back with another verified working Full HD TV....zero output on HDMI. Seems HDMI died for whatever reason.
