Bass management in HT: LFE vs. LFE + Main

I went from Audyssey on the AVR, to separate Behringer + REW, then to MiniDSP + REW. Till I purchased a preamp that came with Dirac. My bus stops at Dirac. I'll have a new problem if I add a third sub, then I'll have to upgrade Dirac. Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

Diamonds: A girl?s best friend at the expense of the man?s pocket

I replaced my center's with an S Tweeter. The diamond cost more than what I bought the whole thing for. Ridiculous Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

Bass management in HT: LFE vs. LFE + Main

I'd add that if you have fronts that can play down to, let's say 40hz or what you consider low, with no distortion you may set them to large. Very few people have such speakers, that's why setting the mains to low is largely recommended. Mains can not compete with subs in the low frequencies...

    Rattling window glass hack

After you mentioned it, I spent about an hour on the gelmar website. They have interesting stuff, thanks [emoji16] Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

    Rattling window glass hack

Yes it's a hack, but it worked. So late last year I introduced a second subwoofer in our 6/6/2.8 "TV room" which greatly increased the sound pressure in the room. It was all good during summer since the windows and two doors were open most of the time, especially when listening at high levels...

Extractor fans on Audio/ HT rack to remove heat and other ...

This is my go to brand for a balance of low noise and good air flow, they are pricey though. I'd get a 140mm fan and run it slower. You'll get less noise and more air flow. Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

The future of High-End Audio in South Africa

I think it's affordability. Anyone who gets to listen to high-end equipment will be left wanting when they go back to their soundbar. They'll ich, but might not be able to scratch. Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

Media PC / HTPC - do you still have one?

Built a gaming spec HTPC back in 2009 and it's still in service. It only has a 64GB SSD and streams from my Microserver and the internet. My HP MICROSERVER is running TrueNas and runs 24/7 serving media, downloading stuff and doing backups of important stuff, including daily backups of our...

Do Amplifiers impart a sonic signature to music

That's what I'm not getting and confuses the hell out of me. To try to clarify I even asked if we are discussing: amplifiers "should not" or we discussing amplifiers "do not" sound different... You took it as far as different brands sound different. I'm saying even different models of the same...

Do Amplifiers impart a sonic signature to music

I'm super confused right now. Is the topic about: "Should" or is it about "Do" amplifiers sound different? If it's "Should" then hell yeah, that would be ideal. I wouldn't argue about ideals. But if it's about "Do"...then I'm super confused right now. Sent from my JNY-LX1 using Tapatalk

Do Amplifiers impart a sonic signature to music

Maybe I don't understand the subject then. I read through most of the posts and it gets confusing following what's being said. Anyway, I've just read the very first post again. I still ask why "ideally all components should not change the signal" when we go for high end models instead of entry...

Do Amplifiers impart a sonic signature to music

Why do we expact amps to sound the same though? I don't get it, they are not made with the same components. Even models from the same brand don't sound the same yet we except it and break the bank to go for the higher end model. Also, how do we know how a certain song should sound? To know...

Can Your Ears Detect Lossless Audio? Take This Test to Find Out

I think the ear gets trained over time. With me, for songs that I know well I can hear the difference between playing them from Tidal vs FLAC. When I joined some automotive company, they did all sorts of tests including hearing. The guy who was testing my hearing was really surprised by the...

What type of lighting do you have for your HT

Lighting for me is more functional than for looks. I don't like watching TV in total darkness. The normal room lights are too bright and even if I dim them they fire into the tv. I find that the dim light coming from the same direction as the tv does reduce the strain on the eyes in flashing...
