..and it is quite an experience
So Me (Thats me) and the family visited Slaapstad (which were quite awake) over the new year period. Also in Town and everywhere else were the peoples of the Barmy Army . Stayed at The Westin and I am sure this cricket thing is just a ploy for a secret invasion of the Moederstad ...because I saw white shirts everywhere ...in the hotel at the V plus A,La Motte,Fransehoekie,Camps bay (lekker cheap properties there by the way, I say ... ;D)and everywhere else.I even found one in our room and she wasnt even pretty problem was it was the the wrong floor and it was her room ... she looked surprised after I nearly bashed the door down when my wife didnt open the door ... :BWAHAHAH:
13 Hof ...
Art work gallery of note.An impressive collection to say the least ...very different .Not your typical artwork .My wife and I loved it.
The Audio .....
I was really impressed with the Unison Max 1s on the Unison Triode 24 fed by a Rega cd player....and not many speakers impress me .Merlin is my reference .The MAX 1s REALLY impressed me ... tight tight base, detailed midrange open and extended highs.Tonal balance perfect.Huge soundstage .Slam pace and wonderful open detail at low volume too ... I like the design,I like the sound .Period
Tannoy Turnberrys on The Gryphon front end ... Yes,Yes VERY good but for the price the MAX 1/ Triode 25/Rega synergy at the asking price is my personal winner.
Small version Odeons on the Triode 25 .... preffered the MAX 1s by quite a margin.
Achim ...Our thinking and philosophy on the subject of audio is pretty much the same ... actually very much the same.I like the business model,I love the presentation.
It was an absolute joy meeting Achim and his son .
Now why dont more speaker designers manufacture speakers that can sound wonderful and complete with as little as 15watts ??? The Max 1 will sound superb on my Leben CS300F ...I know it.On the Stingray II less so ..my gut feel ...and on my Gryphon Callisto 2100 they will be superb as well, but I know I will prefer the tube amp.
I just LOVE a well sorted two way speaker design
