Advice needed: Thickness of cable

Hi Guys,

I am looking at different speaker cables and which one to go for. Working on a 85w amp with Sony SSR7000 speakers (120w) I went to the HDCabling website and found both a 1 mm and 2.5 mm non oxygen cable. http://www.hdcabling.co.za/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=speaker

I understand the thicker the better but can someone explain to me the more intrinsic details?
