Hi All
My brother is in the market to buy a small/medium size bakkie for his business - something unfortunately we aren't experts in.
He runs a decking company, and while he will predominantly use it to travel around for quotations, he will also need it to occasionally deliver materials to site, say an 80:20 split (quotations:delivery).
Considering some beams are as long as 6.6m he also plans to get a roof rack welded to the bucket (cantilevered slightly over the cab if necessary) to be able to transport longer components.
He has been shopping around for a second hand Nissan NP200 as a starting point, hopefully a newer model, < 110,000km on the clock and < R170,000 price range.
He would consider larger models / older models / more mileage - such as a Toyota Hilux - if the price was right and it was in good shape.
Thus far the NP200s we have been to see in person have had evidence of respraying or refitted paneling ? it seems that cars on the second hand bakkie market have frequently been through heavy usage.
The one main drawback of the NP200 is that it is only a two seater. A three seater would be ideal for casual use, as he has a family of three.
Would it be possible to modify a NP200 to a three seater? (the handbrake is right through the middle of the seating in the cab).
Failing that, what other three seater, single cab bakkies are on the market, for the needs described above?
Looking more broadly preference is to stick to makes like Nissan/Toyota/VW/Kia/Hyundai, and avoid makes such as Chevrolet/Ford/GWM/Mahindra/Tata etc.
Any advice on something that fits these parameters - or even any offers from sellers with a suitable vehicle - would be hugely appreciated.
